Pirates Use Late Rally to Win
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the New York Mets, 9-7, in 15 innings at Citi Field. Jason Kendall produced 1 single and 1 double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The third-place Pirates now sit at 31-35.

Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Pie Traynor to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the 15th inning to give the Pirates the lead, 9-7. For the game, Traynor had 1 single and 1 double in 7 at-bats.

"They tested our mettle," said Kendall. "But that's good. It toughens us up."
