The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 6-3. Starting pitcher Red Ryan played a key role in the triumph. Ryan, now 6-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. Curt Schilling notched his 13th save of the season.
Matt D Williams chipped in a run-scoring single for Arizona in the top of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Williams told the Arizona Observer.
