Miami starter Josh Johnson kept the Atlanta offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his sinker in leading the Marlins to a 6-0 win. The winner was Johnson. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Tom Glavine. The 4th-place Marlins hiked their record to 30-35.

Miami got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Miguel Cabrera. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 5-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

Johnson told a Miami Herald reporter that the win made him feel "terrific."
