Braves Skip Past Marlins
|
Atlanta Braves starter Warren Spahn turned in a sparkling performance against the Miami Marlins, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Atlanta's record now stands at 27-35, placing them last in the National League Eastern Division.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, 27-year old center fielder Hugh Duffy won it for Atlanta. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Duffy hit a 1-1 fastball from Robb Nen for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
"Not enough offense on our side," lamented Miami manager .
