San Francisco right fielder Mel Ott had a 3-RBI game, leading his team in its 6-3 defeat of the Washington Nationals. Ott picked up 2 singles and 1 double in the ballgame. Sergio Romo, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.

With San Francisco leading 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Ott hit a 2-run single off Washington hurler Pedro J Martinez. It was the 41st hit of the season for Ott and put his team ahead, 6-2.

In postgame remarks, Giants manager lauded Ott. "He's a good, young player. The future's bright for Mel."

With the win, the Giants hiked their record to 36-26.
