New York Loses, 7-4, in 10
|
Babe Ruth did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the New York Yankees an extra-inning, 7-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium. Ruth threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Kansas City reliever Steve Farr picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sparky Lyle absorbed the loss. With the loss, New York falls to 12-8.
Darrell Porter provided a timely hit. The Kansas City pinch hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Royals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
Said Kansas City manager : "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
