Pirates Handed 5-2 Loss by Los Angeles
|
Starting pitcher Dazzy Vance fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers stymie the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-2. Vance, now 7-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 38-24, while Pittsburgh falls to 28-34.
Duke Snider had a big 2-run double for the Dodgers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Howie Camnitz and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dodgers ahead, 5-2.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Vance.
