Cardinals Score Late to Beat Mets, 4-3
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the New York Mets, 4-3, in National League action at Busch Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of St. Louis pitcher Bob Gibson. Al Hrabosky, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The win for the Cardinals raised their record to 31-30.

Ted Simmons was the walk-off hero for St. Louis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cardinals catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It was bedlam at the end," Simmons said.
