Valenzuela Twirls Gem for Los Angeles
|
Fernando Valenzuela was superb against Cincinnati. The left-hander, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a 10.0 K/9 rate, had a screwball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Dodgers victory. The score was 1-0. Eric Gagne earned the save, his 14th, for the Dodgers. Los Angeles now has a record of 36-23 with the win.
Valenzuela scattered 3 hits over 6.1 innings for the Dodgers. Now 7-2, Valenzuela has struck out 75 this season.
"When he's dealing, Fernando is a tough customer," said Los Angeles manager .
