Cubs Rally to Win, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres, pitcher Roosevelt Davis was the difference-maker. The Chicago right-hander was tough as nails in the 11 inning, 2-1 Cubs win. Chicago reliever Sean Marshall picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Scott Linebrink absorbed the loss. Chicago occupies 4th place in the National League Central Division at 25-34.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Anthony Rizzo? The 25-year old first baseman Rizzo stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put Chicago up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Everybody in here is a professional. You have to do what you have to do," said Davis.
