Rockies Get Dramatic 3-1 Win
|
The Colorado Rockies relied on a great performance from 19-year veteran Bill Byrd to beat the San Francisco Giants, 3-1, in 11 innings at Coors Field. Colorado pitcher Brian Fuentes got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Hooks Wiltse got the loss. The loss makes San Francisco 33-25.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 11th for Colorado. That's when 30-year old right fielder Larry Walker hit a 2-run home run off Hooks Wiltse to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Walker.
