The Atlanta Braves faced a tough opponent in Milwaukee pitcher Leon Day, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Miller Park by a final score of 6-4. Day went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Picking up the win was Johnny Sain. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 1. With the win, Atlanta goes to 23-35, while the Brewers fall to 21-34.

Javy Lopez delivered a big hit for Atlanta. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Braves ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Braves manager .
