Williams 3-for-3 to Ignite Orioles Offense
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 31-year old left fielder Ken Williams, the Baltimore Orioles stopped the Cleveland Indians, 5-0, in 9 innings. Webster McDonald earned the win to go to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work. Barney Pelty closed it out for Baltimore, earning his 1st save.
Baltimore used a well-timed hit by Clint Thomas to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Orioles ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Thomas was taciturn after the game. "A win's a win," he said.
The Indians, now 6-10, continue their inauspicious start.
