Milwaukee Decked, 5-3, by Phillies
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Aaron Nola was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3. Nola got the win, improving to 3-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. The first-place Phillies go to 32-19.
Mike Schmidt had a big 3-run home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the first inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Bosio and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Phillies on top, 4-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Schmidt told the Philadelphia Chronicle.
