The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Turner Field.

Atlanta pitcher Tom Glavine did his part in helping his team beat the New York Mets, 6-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Atlanta reliever John Smoltz was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-3. John Franco took the loss for New York.

With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Ronald Acuna Jr. had a game-changing hit. The Braves designated hitter slammed a 2-run single off Tug McGraw, making the score 5-2, Atlanta.

"I know we have our doubters," said New York manager . "But I still have high hopes for this team."

With the win over New York, the Braves improved to 19-32.
