The Chicago White Sox licked the Seattle Mariners, 5-4. George Scales deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the White Sox. Chicago is now 10-11.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Scales hit a slider from Bill Caudill for a run-scoring single. The White Sox, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Scales.
