The Atlanta Braves locked up a win at Turner Field, knocking off the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-1. On the mound for Atlanta was right-hander Sam Crawford. He played a major role in the triumph. Crawford, now 7-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Craig Kimbrel nailed down his 9th save.

The Dodgers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old second baseman Marcus Giles came to the plate. Giles hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 curveball from Los Angeles hurler Sandy Koufax. It was Giles's 3rd home run of the year.

"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Crawford.

Atlanta, now 18-30, holds down last place in the National League Eastern Division.
