Atlanta and Los Angeles took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Atlanta starter Greg Maddux pitched well against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Turner Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. John Rocker picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Burt Hooton suffered the loss.

Catcher Javy Lopez made an impact for Atlanta, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Orel Hershiser in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Lopez went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Maddux said.

The Braves sport a record of 17-30.
