The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Wrigley Field, defeating the Chicago Cubs, 8-1. Starting pitcher Phil Cockrell was an essential part of his team's success. The second-place Nationals now have a win-loss record of 27-17.
Andre Dawson, the Washington center fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 6-1, Nationals. For the game, Dawson was 1-5. He drove in 2 runs.
