Drooping Braves Lose 7th Straight
|
The San Francisco Giants reigned over the Atlanta Braves in damp conditions.
The San Francisco Giants faced a tough opponent in Atlanta pitcher Warren Spahn, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Turner Field by a final score of 5-2. Spahn went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. The slumping Braves have lost 7 straight.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Robby Thompson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We need to focus on the fundamentals," said Atlanta manager .
