Miami Marlins starter Kevin Brown turned in a top-notch performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The result was a win for the Marlins, 3-2. Bryan Harvey picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Deacon Phillippe suffered the loss. Robb Nen earned the save for Miami, his 8th of the year.

Miguel Cabrera, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Marlins organization, had a direct impact on the outcome. Cabrera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Miami up, 3-2.

"Kevin's stuff looked really, really crisp," said , the Marlins manager.

The win elevated the Marlins to 17-16.
