The New York Mets earned a win at Chase Field, stopping the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-2. Starting pitcher Hilton Smith played a big role in his team's success. New York has now won 4 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Richie Ashburn came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Arizona pitcher Curt Schilling, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 3-2.

"This was a total team effort," said Smith.
