Los Angeles Wins, 5-2, in 13 Innings
|
Los Angeles beat Houston on the strength of starting pitcher Andy Messersmith's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Los Angeles is now 7-7.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Kendry Morales came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Houston pitcher Barney Brown, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 3-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Morales told the Los Angeles News.
