The Houston Astros got a magnificent performance from pitcher Shane Reynolds, who muffled the Los Angeles offense en route to a tight, 1-0 Astros win at Minute Maid Park. Reynolds yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-0. Earning his 5th save for Houston was Larry Andersen.

The Astros got a big at-bat from third baseman Alex Bregman. For the game, Bregman was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Houston a 1-0 lead.

"Shane looked very determined to have a good game," said Houston manager . "He was totally focused and he produced."
