The Kansas City Royals earned a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, knocking off the Los Angeles Angels, 6-3. On the bump for Kansas City was right-hander Kevin Appier. He had a starring role in the triumph. The save was Jeff Montgomery's, his 2nd. The win puts Kansas City at 2-1.

It could have been a different outcome for Kansas City, had it not been for Willie Wilson, the 24-year old left fielder . Wilson contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Kansas City up, 6-3.

Wilson called the win "a pick-me-upper."
