Mets Fight for 3-2 Win
The New York Mets eked out a 16-inning, 3-2 win versus the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Jacob deGrom. He was terrific. Bob Apodaca picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Marichal suffered the loss. The win puts New York at 20-16 this season.

The Mets got a clutch hit from catcher Mike Piazza. In the bottom of the 16th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Mets.

"We were determined to pick up this win," said Piazza.
