Nationals Turn Away Diamondbacks, 6-4
|
The Washington Nationals stopped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4, behind an impressive performance from Wilson Redus. The 22-year old left fielder made life miserable for Arizona pitching. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Washington pitcher Ugueth Urbina got the win. He's now 1-0. Dan Haren was tagged with the loss. Tim Burke nailed down the save.
Redus had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Dan Haren, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Nationals a 6-3 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Redus.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Redus.
The loss has the Diamondbacks at 10-12.
