Evers Steals Spotlight, But Last Laugh Belongs to Milwaukee
The Milwaukee Brewers withstood a fine game by Chicago second baseman Johnny Evers at Wrigley Field, to upend the Cubs, 11-10. Evers was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Doug Henry, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Chicago falls to 12-12.

Milwaukee needed the clutch hitting of Walter Cannady to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Brewers on top, 11-10. For the game, Cannady had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
