Smith Deals Cincinnati 2-0 Setback
|
A good time was had by all at Citi Field, where the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets tangled.
In a low-scoring contest between the New York Mets and the Cincinnati Reds, Hilton Smith was the X factor. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. Tom Seaver closed it out for New York, earning his 4th save.
Smith gave New York a blue-ribbon performance. The 6-foot-2 right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 8 innings of work.
In postgame remarks, Smith applauded his team's "toughness."
The win leaves New York with a record of 15-9.
