Don Sutton, who is tied for 5th in the NL in innings pitched with 32.0, was brilliant in helping Los Angeles beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-1. Eric Gagne earned save number 5 this season. The win gives Los Angeles a record of 12-7.
Sutton was effective for Los Angeles, seldom allowing the Pirates to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 81 pitches over 8 innings. He limited Pittsburgh to just 1 run on 2 hits.
