Starting pitcher Mordecai Brown gave the Chicago Cubs a rock-solid effort. The The United States native helped his team defeat the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, at Citizens Bank Park. The win puts Chicago at 11-9.
Anthony Rizzo, who is tied for 6th in the NL in hits with 25, had a direct impact on the outcome. Rizzo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2.
