The Milwaukee Brewers used a great performance from Leon Day, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 36.0, to beat the Miami Marlins, 2-1, at Miller Park. Day yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 10. His record improves to 3-2. Rollie Fingers earned the save for Milwaukee, his 7th of the year.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Brewers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when designated hitter Walter Cannady hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Kevin Brown and made the score 1-0, Brewers. Cannady went 1-4.

"We've got great fans," said Cannady. "I hope they got what they came for."

Milwaukee goes to 8-10.
