In a low-scoring game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Atlanta Braves, pitcher Mike Caldwell was the difference-maker. The Milwaukee left-hander was tough as nails in the 2-1 Brewers win. Caldwell yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-1. Rollie Fingers, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Milwaukee, had it not been for Alex Radcliff, the 29-year old third baseman . Radcliff contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Milwaukee up, 2-0.
"We were in it," said Atlanta manager . "We just didn't score enough runs."
For the Braves, the loss makes their record 6-11.
