The game between Chicago and New York is in the books, despite a little rain.

Chicago got a strong outing from Clark Griffith as the Cubs defeated the New York Mets, 3-0, at Citi Field. Sean Marshall picked up the save, his 4th.

Chicago used a well-timed hit by Joe Tinker to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Our offense was purring," said Chicago manager . "Like a well-oiled machine."

The win leaves Chicago with a record of 7-6.
