Redus goes 3-for-4 to Ignite Nationals Offense
|
The timely hitting of Wilson Redus helped the Washington Nationals down the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-6. Redus was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Nationals. Henry McHenry was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 11 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. The save was credited to Tim Burke, his 4th.
With Washington leading 6-2 in the bottom of the second, Redus came up to bat against Pittsburgh pitcher Cecilio Guante. Redus hit a fastball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Nationals on top, 9-2.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Redus.
The win puts Washington at 6-4.
