Giants Beat Reds, 5-2
|
San Francisco Giants starter Carl Hubbell was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2. Hubbell picked up the win for San Francisco, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Earning his 1st save for San Francisco was Gary Lavelle.
The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Robby Thompson. For the game, Thompson was 1 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave San Francisco a 4-2 lead.
Said San Francisco manager : "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
The Reds drop to 4-8, as their stumbling start to the 2014 season continues.
