The Miami Marlins had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Bill Drake to win, 4-3, at Marlins Ballpark. Drake went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The win gives the Marlins a record of 6-6.

Dick Lundy, who is rated as the 2nd best prospect by BNN, took New York hurler Tug McGraw deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Marlins on top, 4-3. In all, Lundy had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
