Reds shortstop John Beckwith put his stamp on his team's 8-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Beckwith went 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for Cincinnati in the contest. Jose Rijo got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Pittsburgh, with the loss, is still a hardy 4-1.
