Rockies Suffer 11-8 Loss to St. Louis
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Colorado Rockies, 11-8, at Busch Stadium. Chick Hafey was a standout performer for St. Louis. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The win was credited to Jason Motte in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Pedro Astacio took the loss. Bruce Sutter was credited with the save for St. Louis, his 1st of the season.

In the bottom of the first, 27-year old right fielder Stan Musial hit a bases-clearing triple. The 1st triple of the season for the St. Louis right fielder put the Cardinals on top, 3-0.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hafey told a St. Louis News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

With the loss, Colorado falls to 0-1.
