Dodgers Collect 5-1 Win Versus Milwaukee
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Milwaukee Brewers home opener. Leon Day started for the home team against Sandy Koufax for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-1, Los Angeles. Sandy Koufax, though, was impressive. Koufax picked up the win for Los Angeles, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. The save was credited to Takashi Saito, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Los Angeles, had it not been for Roy Campanella, the former first overall pick . Campanella contributed a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put Los Angeles up, 3-0.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Campanella.
