Nationals Turn Back Cubs, 4-2
|
Washington Nationals starter Steve Rogers was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 4-2. Rogers yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The loss drops Chicago to 1-2.
The Nationals got a big at-bat from right fielder Tim Raines Sr. For the game, Raines Sr went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Washington a 2-1 lead.
"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Rogers.
