Jim Bunning, who is tied for 4th in the AL in complete games with 1, had a strong outing for the Detroit Tigers against the Texas Rangers at Comerica Tigers Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. The winner was Bunning. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Fergie Jenkins. Detroit, now 61-69, holds down 4th place in the American League Central Division.
Hank Greenberg cracked a home run off Fergie Jenkins in the bottom of the third. His 3-run blast put the Tigers on top, 3-0. In all, Greenberg had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
