Red Sox Beat Astros, 4-3
|
Boston pitcher Dutch H Leonard did his part in helping his team beat the Houston Astros, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Leonard, now 7-10, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. The win boosts the Red Sox to 65-66. The loss puts the Astros at 75-56.
In the bottom of the sixth, Boston pinch hitter Nomar Garciaparra put his team on top. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 1st home run of the year. Houston pitcher Joe Sambito served it up. Just like that, the Red Sox were ahead, 4-3.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Leonard.
