The Chicago White Sox knocked off the Oakland Athletics, 8-5, in American League action at U.S. Cellular Field. Chicago pitcher and Puerto Rico, native Juan Pizarro had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was Hoyt Wilhelm, his 26th. The White Sox now have a record of 72-59.

A J Pierzynski had a big 2-run home run for the White Sox in the bottom of the second inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a curveball from Bill Holland and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 13th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 3-0.

"Juan had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Chicago manager .
