Twins Suffer 2-0 Loss to Astros
|
The Houston Astros downed the Minnesota Twins, 2-0, at Minute Maid Park. Stellar pitching by Andy Porter had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the AL in complete games with 1, handcuffed his opponent all game. Larry Andersen got the save, his 34th in 36 chances. After today's action, Houston sits at 75-54, while Minnesota falls to 70-59.
Bonnie Serrell, who is tied for 9th in the AL with a .346 on-base percentage, took Minnesota hurler Roy Welmaker deep in the bottom of the sixth. His solo home run put the Astros on top, 1-0. In all, Serrell had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
