Suzuki Excels, But Blue Jays Win
Ichiro Suzuki did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Seattle Mariners from being beaten, 14-9, to the Toronto Blue Jays at Safeco Field. Suzuki was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles, while scoring 4 and driving in 2. Toronto reliever Mark Eichhorn was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was J J Putz. Toronto now sports a record of 68-59.

Toronto used the clutch hitting of Bo Bichette to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Blue Jays the lead, 9-8. For the game, Bichette had 2 singles and 2 doubles in 4 at-bats.
