Indians Beaten, 6-3, by Kansas City
|
Kansas City registered a win at Progressive Field by beating the Cleveland Indians, 6-3. Pitcher Bret Saberhagen was one reason why the Royals triumphed. Jeff Montgomery closed out the game, earning his 31st save. With the win, Kansas City has a record of 61-64. Cleveland falls to 57-68.
Tied up with the Indians in the top of the fifth inning, the Royals got a boost from third baseman Joe Randa. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Randa saw a 2-2 sinker from CC Sabathia and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Kansas City on top, 2-1.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Randa, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
