Rays Lose to Chicago, 4-1
|
Chicago White Sox left-hander Juan Pizarro pitched a good game against the Tampa Bay Rays at U.S. Cellular Field, leading his team to victory, 4-1. The winner was Pizarro. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was William Bell. Hoyt Wilhelm nailed down the save.
Heavy Johnson had a big 2-run home run for the White Sox in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from William Bell, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2014 draft, and punished it. The result was his 24th home run of the season, which put the White Sox on top, 4-1.
"Juan had himself a pretty good evening," said Chicago manager .
Chicago's record now stands at 69-57, placing them first in the American League Central Division.
