Rays Snag 11-7 Win
The Tampa Bay Rays faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Dick Whitworth, but still scratched out a win at U.S. Cellular Field by a final score of 11-7 in 15 innings. Whitworth went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Tampa Bay reliever Dan Wheeler picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Bobby Thigpen took the loss. The win makes Tampa Bay 58-67.

Tampa Bay used the clutch hitting of Randy Winn to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 15th inning to put the Rays ahead, 9-7. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Winn.
