The Los Angeles Angels eked out a 3-2 win versus the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Frank Tanana. He was terrific. Jordan Walden snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Norm Charlton suffered the loss. Brendan Donnelly earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Mike Napoli to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Angels on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Fun game," said Napoli, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
Los Angeles now has a record of 61-61 with the win.
